This white-tailed deer hunting season has really been one for the record books, and not just in Texas. Not only have the true-to-life hunting stories been amazing this year, but now it seems whitetail hunters around the Lone Star State are processing the story of a two-headed deer being shot near Rock Springs, Texas. The website reporting the rare harvest has come up with some pretty amazing stories in the past, but this one is luring in the hunters like a a young buck to a doe in heat.
For those of you that have yet to hear about the alleged two headed deer hoax, the photo may blurry, but the story is at least an entertaining one. In fact, I’m kind of surprised this story did not take place in Louisiana because it definitely has the makings of a Thibodeaux and Boudreaux joke. Only in this one it’s Bill and Steve Jr. out at their West Texas deer lease.
“… Bill had his 7mm magnum with him, saw the deer was at least a 10 point buck, and took a shot at it. Meanwhile, Steve Jr. shot the 8 point looking out of the other side of the cedar with his .270. The bucks ran about 20 yards through the brush and collapsed into a mesquite tree.”
“… The game wardens said under the current Texas rules that these two men should have put a deer tag on each set of antlers. But, as this has never occurred before in their lifetime, they agreed to reduce the fine by one-half.”
“… The 8 point end of the buck had been shot twice before behind the front shoulder, but as there were no vitals behind the shoulders, the holes had healed up maybe as much as two years earlier.”
The story of the two Texans with the two-headed buck may not be true, but I imagine it will find it’s way into many deer camps in the future. I’m sure some special beverages helped create the original two-headed deer story, so I imagine next deer season some additional beverages combined with a hunter’s creativity and a campfire will make it even more amazing. Cheers, to the fake two-headed deer!
How in the hell did you manage this? Is this even possible?
These stories come out every year. If people stop and think about them and reason them out, you realize that it is a fake. It always makes me think what people will believe when they read about them. I have been hunting all my life and I am 79 years old. Never missed a season since my first season when I was 9 years old. That means I have 70 years of never missing a season of hunting deer in my state of Texas.
Ummm, you know that isn’t a hoax, right? If you are going to put something on the internet make sure it’s true.
This story is actually true. I read the news report about this.
If you look at the photo, the guy on the left is kneeling down but you can’t see his legs or feet under the deer. You just see shadow. It’s a doctored photo, but they gave it a good try!
